It has been established that an evenly-grassed and good looking lawn increases the value of your property by almost 12%. Moreover, a well-manicured lawn gives you a quick respite from your hectic schedule, spawning a natural atmosphere of relaxation. All we just need to do is be methodical about laying our lawns.
What does a lawn do for you?
Your lawn is your connection to nature and its intensive greenery is good for the eyes. Manicured landscaping increases the curb appeal of your home especially when you lay a nice little driveway over it. A nicely laid out lawn gives you an enigmatic ground-space for holding outdoor parties, too.
You begin to fancy your morning and evening serenades on the lawn. A lawn also offers you a feeling of opulence and freedom, releasing you from the clutter of your in-house.
Cultivation: Initial step towards laying a lawn
It is essential to eliminate the old order before establishing a new one. The first step towards it is to glean off small pebbles, wooden chips and weeds (they have a habit of growing everywhere). Once the lawn is smooth and kicking, remove the upper level of soil and mix it with new soil, cultivating it demurely. Level it with a rake or any flat metal.
‘Bricking’ the lawn
Make a mental division of the lawn into small strips. While relaying them, ensure that the establishment is compact and edges are not over-lapping. Crumbs and odd cuts of lawns tend to stick to edges and thus make relaying uneven. All the while, keep watering the section you relay so that the residing grass gets well-soaked.
Protect the lawn
Obviously, you will have to step to the sections of lawn you have just ‘bricked’ while working over new sections. Protect these sections by putting planks or other potent wooden structures.
Fence your lawn with strips wisely so that you don’t encounter problems while doing the corners. When the whole area is manicured, water it in entirety. Be generous in watering the lawn for the initial month by when your newly laid lawn will have settled.
Filling the blanks
No matter how diligently you lay your lawn, certain gaps will always remain and that sullies the look of your lawn. Be ready with topsoil and carefully wedged out strips from the old lawn and fill it in the gaps before watering. The gaps level out in time as people tread over the lawn and the green enclosure becomes quite compact.
